What We Work on Together
Eating habits develop under very different circumstances. Working hours, family life, stress, sleep, health conditions, and previous experiences can all play a role. Select the points to see which areas may be addressed during your nutrition consultations.
What and When You Eat
Important to know: Weight changes vary from person to person. The current German S3 guideline on obesity recommends individualized nutrition advice and also notes that responses to nutrition interventions can vary considerably³. We therefore cannot promise a specific amount of weight loss or a particular result within a fixed period.

What Sets Our Nutrition Counseling Apart
Not every approach works for every person. Compare a highly standardized model with our personalized, evidence-based support.
What matters to us: We do not promise a specific amount of weight loss or a particular result within a fixed time frame. Weight changes vary from person to person. That is why our focus is on realistic goals, professional guidance, and respectful support.3
Who Is the Weight Loss Program Without Medication For?
There is no BMI threshold or eligibility assessment required. Nutrition counseling can be booked directly. However, it may not be equally suitable for every situation. Select the statements that apply to you.

Which Statements Apply to You?
Select the statements that match your situation to receive an immediate initial assessment.
For guidance: This check is not a substitute for a professional assessment. The BMI calculator can also provide an initial indication of your weight category. However, BMI alone does not determine which type of support may be appropriate.

Which Program Length Is Right for You?
During the free initial consultation, we discuss your goals and determine which level of support may be appropriate for you.
How Your Nutrition Counseling or Nutrition Therapy Program Works
Four steps, in this order. The process does not begin with a ready-made plan. It begins with a conversation about how you currently eat and which changes can realistically be incorporated into your everyday life.
01 Free Initial Consultation Initial guidance, online and with no obligation
We discuss what you would like to change and what kind of support you are looking for. Together, we determine which form of nutrition-related support may be professionally appropriate for your situation.
If you have existing medical conditions or symptoms, or take medication regularly, we consider your current health situation and discuss whether an additional medical assessment may be advisable.
This step is free, involves no obligation, and does not automatically enroll you in a paid program.
02 Comprehensive Nutrition Assessment Your first specialist consultation with your dietitian
Together, we look at your current situation without judgment. The assessment provides the basis for recommendations that fit your needs and your everyday life.
- Your usual meals, beverages, and daily schedule
- Hunger, fullness, and typical eating situations
- Preferences, intolerances, and symptoms
- Previous experiences, challenges, and existing strengths
03 Realistic Goals and Practical Strategies Step by step instead of changing everything at once
Together, you define goals that are clear and achievable in everyday life. Instead of attempting many changes at the same time, individual and meaningful steps are prioritized.
This may include restructuring your meals, finding suitable food combinations, or practicing strategies for managing challenging situations.
There are no blanket lists of forbidden foods and no identical nutrition plan for everyone.
04 Support During Follow-Up Consultations Review, refine, and adjust
During your follow-up consultations, you discuss what worked well and where new questions or challenges arose. Recommendations are adjusted together when necessary.
The goal is not simply to change the number on the scale. You should gain a better understanding of the factors involved and develop strategies that you can continue using after the program has ended.
Changes do not have to work perfectly to be helpful in the long term.
Nutrition Counseling or Nutrition Therapy: Which Is Right for Your Situation?
The terms are often used interchangeably in everyday language, but professionally they describe two different starting points. This may also affect whether a contribution from your health insurance provider is possible.

You do not need to decide in advance. During the free initial consultation, we determine which option applies to your situation and whether medical documentation is required. It is also important to know that the German title “Ernährungsberater,” meaning nutrition counselor, is not legally protected. At The Body Clinic, you are supported by qualified dietitians working in a state-regulated healthcare profession. This is why we deliberately do not describe the service as “coaching.”²
Your Consultations Take Place Online, Nationwide Across Germany
We provide nutrition counseling and nutrition therapy via video consultation. There is no waiting room, no travel, and no need to keep an entire afternoon free. All you need is an internet-enabled device with a camera and microphone. Especially when balancing shift work, family responsibilities, or a long commute, this flexibility can make the difference between planning to start someday and actually staying committed.
If a medical assessment becomes advisable during the program, this can also take place online or at one of our locations. During the free initial consultation, we determine which option best suits your situation.

Questions About Losing Weight Without Medication
Can you lose weight without medication?
Yes, losing weight without medication is generally possible. However, the outcome depends on many individual factors, including your starting point, existing medical conditions, daily circumstances, eating habits, physical activity, and how consistently changes can be maintained. At The Body Clinic, you are supported by state-recognized dietitians. We deliberately do not promise a specific result.
What is the difference between nutrition counseling and nutrition therapy?
In professional terminology, nutrition counseling is primarily intended for generally healthy people who would like to improve their diet or prevent health problems. Nutrition therapy is aimed at people with a diagnosed medical condition or nutrition-related symptoms, such as obesity, elevated blood glucose, lipid disorders, or food intolerances. Health insurance providers sometimes use these terms differently. We clarify which category applies to you during the initial consultation.²
Does health insurance cover nutrition therapy?
Where there is a medical indication, many statutory health insurance providers voluntarily contribute toward the cost of outpatient nutrition therapy. The requirements, contribution amount, and application process vary by insurance provider. The final decision is made by your health insurance provider. An official medical certificate of necessity, a cost estimate, and proof of the nutrition professional’s qualifications are often required. Please clarify whether a contribution is available directly with your health insurance provider before starting the program.¹
Do I need to see a physician before starting?
Not in every situation. A medical assessment or certificate may be advisable or required if you have an existing medical condition, unexplained symptoms, take medication regularly, or plan to apply for reimbursement from your health insurance provider. During the free initial consultation, we clarify what applies to your situation.
How much does the program without medication cost?
There are three packages with fixed total prices: €120 for one month with two online consultations, €235 for three months with four consultations, and €345 for five months with six consultations. An additional medical consultation is not included. You can find an overview of all programs on our pricing page.
Will I receive a fixed meal plan?
No. The support is not based on one identical plan for everyone. Together, you develop meal structures and strategies that suit your individual situation. Specific examples or practical guidance may be used when they are helpful in your everyday life.
Do I have to avoid certain foods or count calories?
Blanket food restrictions are not part of the approach. However, certain restrictions may be medically necessary, for example if you have a diagnosed food intolerance or specific medical condition. These recommendations are assessed individually. Calorie counting is also not automatically part of the consultation. You and your dietitian decide together whether a particular form of tracking would be helpful.
Can I lose weight without exercising?
Nutrition has a significant influence on body weight. Physical activity also provides health benefits and is part of many guideline-based weight-management programs.³ The type and amount of activity that may be suitable for you depend on your health and individual abilities. You can find a detailed explanation in our article Losing Weight Without Exercise.
How do the consultations take place?
Nutrition counseling and nutrition therapy take place online. You can participate from any location via video consultation and only need an internet-enabled device with a camera and microphone. You will work with the same nutrition professional throughout the program.
How long does the program last, and how much weight can I lose?
Program lengths of one, three, or five months are currently available. The number of consultations depends on the package you choose. We cannot responsibly promise a specific amount of weight loss. Responses to nutrition recommendations vary from person to person, and average results do not allow reliable predictions for an individual.³
What happens after the program?
The goal is not only to change the number on the scale, but also to help you feel more confident in managing your nutrition. You should gain a better understanding of the relevant factors and develop strategies that you can continue using after your final consultation. If you would like continued support, you can extend the program at any time. Nothing renews automatically.
Footnotes
- Nutrition counseling and nutrition therapy are not generally mandatory benefits under Germany’s statutory health insurance system. Where there is a medical indication, health insurance providers may voluntarily contribute toward part of the costs. Requirements, contribution amounts, and the necessary documentation vary between providers. The decision is made exclusively by your health insurance provider. Nutrition therapy is currently routinely prescribable under Germany’s statutory therapeutic-services framework only for rare congenital metabolic disorders and cystic fibrosis.
- “Ernährungsberater,” meaning nutrition counselor, is not a legally protected professional title in Germany. “Diätassistentin” and “Diätassistent,” meaning dietitian, refer to a state-recognized healthcare profession with legally regulated training.
- The German S3 guideline Prevention and Treatment of Obesity recommends individualized nutrition advice that takes a person’s circumstances, risk profile, and treatment goals into account. It also notes that individual responses to nutrition interventions vary considerably. Specific amounts of weight loss therefore cannot be predicted. The guideline also calls for treatment that is free from weight-related stigma.
