FAQ's Saxenda

On average, patients lose about 1 kg per week with Saxenda. However, the result varies from individual to individual and depends heavily on the combination with a long-term lifestyle change. Treatment should be discontinued if at least 5% of the original body weight has not been lost after 12 weeks of the maximum daily dose of 3.0 mg.

Saxenda may only be prescribed by a doctor, either after a physical or online consultation.

The dosage of Saxenda is usually increased gradually over 4 weeks. Patients often report a rapid effect on the feeling of hunger and satiety, but mild side effects such as nausea may occur initially. If no weight loss of at least 5% is achieved after 12 weeks at the daily dose of 3.0 mg, treatment is usually discontinued.

A prefilled Saxenda pen contains 18 mg liraglutide. At a maintenance dose of 3.0 mg per day, one pen is sufficient for 6 injections, i.e. 6 days. Saxenda is available in packs of 1, 3 or 5 pens, although not all pack sizes are available on the market.

There is no maximum duration of use for Saxenda. You can use it as long as you are not taking any other medication that conflicts with it or you do not develop any contraindications.

Saxenda reduces your appetite and makes you feel full, making it easier to change your lifestyle and give up unhealthy habits. In the best case scenario, you will use Saxenda to achieve your desired weight and at the same time develop a healthy lifestyle that enables you to maintain your weight without medication.
