Dear Patient,

We are looking forward to your appointment! As part of medically supervised programs, medications from the group of GLP-1 receptor agonists may be used if prescribed by your doctor.

Please read this information sheet carefully before your appointment. It contains important details about the effects, usage, risks, and possible side effects of these medications.

Please also note: we are a private practice. Treatments with GLP-1 medications start at €345 per month (see price overview here). For Video Consultations, please use the Doctolib app on your smartphone or the Google Chrome Browser on your Laptop/ PC.

1. What Are GLP-1 Receptor Agonists?

GLP-1 receptor agonists are medications that mimic the body’s natural GLP-1 hormone. This hormone:

  • Stimulates insulin secretion
    Suppresses glucagon secretion
    Slows down gastric emptying
    Reduces appetite and hunger

Examples: Semaglutide (Ozempic®, Wegovy®), Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®)

2. Goals of Therapy

  • Weight loss
  • Improved blood sugar control
  • Reduced cardiovascular risk (especially in patients with diabetes)

3. Method of Administration

  • Weekly subcutaneous injection (into the abdominal skin, thigh, or upper arm)
The dosage is gradually increased based on medical guidance

4. Common Side Effects

5. Rare but Serious Risks

  • Kidney issues caused by dehydration (e.g. kidney stones)
  • Delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis)
  • Thyroid tumors (observed in animal studies, not confirmed in humans)

Use is not permitted in individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
